She is ready to set fire in  the Big Boss home season 8.  She is being seen as replacement  of Mickey Virus actress Elli Avram’s.  Though Minisha Lamba , Sonali Raut and Karishma Tanna are also contestants, but all the eyes will be fixed on the Siberian model Natasha.

Born in 1977 in Serbia and graduated from the University of Arts, Department of Photography and Video from Romania, she went into documentary film production for human rights and child labour.  She has also produced two documentary films Punam (2005) and Journey of a Red Fridge (2007).

The film has been chosen by a 12-member jury appointed by the Film Federation of India (FFI), and out of a record number of 30 shortlisted films.

“‘Liar’s Dice’ is the chosen film as India’s Oscar entry this time,” FFI general secretary Supran Sen.

“The last time we had a record number was 25 films way back in 2001,” Sen added.

The movie, debut directed by Malayalam actress Geetu Mohandas, tells the story of a young tribal mother who, along with her three-year-old daughter, embarks on a journey in search of her missing husband. On the way, she meets an army deserter who decides to accompany them to their destination.

“Liar’s Dice” won the best cinematography honour for Rajeev Ravi and best actress title for Geetanjali at the 61st National Film Awards.

It has also travelled to film festivals across the globe. Its world premiere was held at the Mumbai Film Festival last year and it was later screened at Sudance Film Festival as well as at the International Film Festival Rotterdam.

Does she have an agenda?

“All these things I would talk on the show – why I am doing this and all…There are multiple reasons on why I am going on this show…at some point, may be I will discuss it on the show. I’d like to keep some stuff for the show,” Minissha had told IANS before heading to get locked into the ‘house’.

She assured that she’s not going to the show with an agenda.

“When ‘Bigg Boss’ ends for me, I will consider it as a chapter of my life that’s behind me. I have watched season six and seven closely, and yes it’s a highly entertaining show. It’s the most entertaining show I have ever watched,” added the actress, seen in films like “Yahaan”, “Bachna Ae Haseeno” and “Kidnap”.

Minissha says “Bigg Boss” is not scripted, and all the drama in it is for real.

“Honestly, from being an actor and knowing the things I know,certain situations and things can’t be created. They just happen.

“It’s not possible to script (such a show) because they can’t put many good actors in one show who will follow their lines,” she explained.

The 29-year-old also says she understands the game of TV ratings well and especially that if the audienc egets bored, they will simply switch the channel.

“You have to give something entertaining and gripping. If people are put in a realistic and highly pressurised situation, it is natural for a person to act out of character at times, so nothing wrong with that (if it happens in ‘Bigg Boss’.

“I’m not some jobless actor who has come to the house to revive my career. I’ll go back and I’ll have a lot of work to do,” Karishma told over phone from Mumbai before entering the show, which went on air Sunday.

The contestants have to stay confined in a specific house for around three months without any connect with the outer world. And this year, the show is exploring a unique aviation theme.

Karishma has been a popular TV actress, courtesy shows like “Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi” and “Koi Dil Mein Hain”, and on the big screen, she was seen in adult sex comedy “Grand Masti”. Currently, she has films like “Tina and Lolo” as well as a southern film in her kitty.

So how does she plan to manage the three-month break?

“All the movies that I have taken up either release or start shooting next year. I decided to enter the house as I was free for these three months,” she said.

The actress had once turned down the offer of featuring in “Bigg Boss”, but this year she decided to take the plunge to “experience the life inside the house that’s known for its twists and turns”.

“Along with the experience, I also wanted to overcome my fear of staying without my phone, my family and being disconnected with the world. And not to forget the gruelling task of dealing with so many contestants and politics inside the house,” she said.

The show is also known for its infamous controversies. And this was also one of the reasons why Karishma earlier refrained from becoming a part of the show.

“Negative publicity stopped me from taking up the show. But now I wanted to take this as a challenge. No matter what the consequences are (positive or negative), I will take it with dignity,” Karishma said.

“I started with ‘Wonder Balloon’. Since then, television has changed a lot. It has become so big… It has high-definition now,” the Oscar-winning composer said here Tuesday at the promo and poster launch of “EVEREST”.

Rahman, who had earlier collaborated with Gowariker for his movies like “Lagaan”, “Jodhaa Akbar” and “Swades”, will now compose for the TV show, produced and written by the filmmaker.

“Ashutosh has given me so many good songs in his movies. It is a great start for me with Ashutosh and Star Plus,” he said.

“Ashutosh came to me with a concept, which was so intriguing and beautiful. He has briefed me about 12 characters. In fact, we finished the theme song three days back. We have tried to make it very orchestral,” he added.

“I think there are good singers that come out from those shows but no playback singers. I think reality shows give them a platform to do stage shows… they come to do shows but not playback singing.

“It takes a lot to become a playback singer and they (playback singers) are a different lot. Their brains function in a different way,” she told reporters here on the sidelines of an event.

She was in the city to launch the Bengali music album “Pancham Tumi Kothay”.

Launched by Saregama, the album is a bouquet of eight songs selected by Bhosle which were originally sung by her late composer Rahuld Dev Burman aka Pancham da. They have been re-recorded by Bhosle and the album is pegged as a Durga puja special album.

“We used to work so hard and therefore, we could churn out so many songs. There wasn’t anytime for doing shows in our time as we used to be so busy,” said the Padma Vibhushan awardee who has apparently crooned more than 12,000 songs in multiple languages.

The 81-year-old crooner recalled how during her time, singers used to listen to the composers and try to “catch” the tune directly from their sessions.

However, she lamented, today, even after listening to songs multiple times, aspirants can’t get the right tune.

“Even after listening to songs 10 to 15 times if they can’t get it right then they are of no use. We used to learn directly from the composer. Besides, the music directors today do not sing that well themselves. In our time, all the music directors (like Madan Mohan etc.) used to sing very well,” she said.

Asha, the younger sister of legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar, has sung for actresses of black and while era like Madhubala, Helen and Asha Parek as well as the new-age heroines like Urmila Matondkar and Kareena Kapoor.

What pains her is the way the classics are replicated and given a modern spin that essential “ruins” (“bigaad dete hain”) the original.

“We had sung the songs with a lot of hard work and a lot of effort went in for the rehearsals. After that effort, the songs became hits and ran for a long time.

“So when somebody ruins the compositions through remixes (bigaad dete hain) I feel very bad. Especially when somebody does it to Lata di’s songs or Kishore da’s songs…I feel anguished. When they sing our songs like that I wonder why do they do it ? Nobody has the voice of Kishore da… ,” she said.A

“Aaiye meherban”, “Jaaiye aap kahan”, “Raat akeli hai”, “Piya tu ab toh aaja”, “Dum maaro dum”, “Dil cheez kya hai” are “Yayi re yayi re” are some of her memorable numbers.

She performs live on stage till date and took to the stage at a packed show in Paris earlier this year.
